Late Night Meal

Posted: July 7, 2011 in Don't get fat, Get healthier

So its 2AM, the bars are closing, and it’s time to roll home. BUT when you are a little tipsy and about to go home the first thing that hits your mind is to stop and get food, am I right or am I right?

***On a real quick side note, I’m not down with the drinking and driving. Take a taxi or burn off those calories you’re about to consume and walk your ass there.***

Of course the only places open at that hour are fast food restaurants. I don’t know what its like in your college town, but in Stillwater, Oklahoma all that is open is Wendy’s, McDonalds, Papa Johns, IHOP, and Taco Bell. Before you order that Big Mac & and a triple super sized french fry take a minute to remember your are TRYING to stay fit. You can order something at all these late night spots that can help you build good, lean muscle.

McDonalds: Order as many of those $1 double cheeseburgers as you want, but lose the bun! Just eat all the patties, cheese and fatty bacon you want.  Each has about 20g of protein or more, you’re getting without consuming a ton of nasty carbs.

Wendy’s: Wendy’s is my late night spot 😀 I freaking love that place. What I get is a couple grilled chicken sandwiches, except I ditch the bun. I also do get some of those delicious “new sea salt fries.” Yeah, there a ton of carbohydrates in those, but since I got my hard workout in earlier that day those carbs will go toward muscle building!  If you need a little more grease, you can even go for those crispy chicken sandwiches, sans bun.

Papa Johns: When you make that late night delivery call try subbing out that quadruple extra cheese large pizza for a small or medium meat lovers pizza. You will get about 5g more protein PER SLICE!  Wing are also good options, choose over bread sticks.

IHOP: Yo, believe me, I freaking love their pancakes. When they have their “All-you-can-eat” pancake special, I want to do nothing more than set up camp at IHOP. However, I try to stay away from the cakes whenever I go in there to eat late night. Order all the eggs & bacon you want (or sausage, ham, etc.). The protein and the fats in bacon & eggs will help go towards muscle building. The pancakes (or waffles, or french french toast) will go toward “belly-building” and “toilet-sitting.” So just stay away from the cakes and indulge in the eggs & bacon. I even take it one step further and order egg whites with a shit load of bacon, but if you like the yolks go for it.

Taco Bell: Just stay away from that shit…

I am sure there a bunch of different places open late night around you, but you can find healthy substitutes at all of those places. Good luck in the lean muscle building!

Who knew you just had to throw away the buns?….and give up fries and chocolate shakes, maybe that’s that part I missed.
